  • Course Status

  • Last checked October 2025.  Everything OK.  There has been some drainage work on the moors. This has left temporary tracks which are not mapped and will fade in the coming months.
  • 29/4/2023 – post A has been moved 200m North towards EF (so as to not be inside the deer sanctuary).  All other posts OK.
  • 4/12/2021 … a number of the Permanent Course posts have been moved to new positions – to provide White and Yellow courses avoiding the meadow, avoid bracken and bramble overgrowth and reduce distances in tussocks.  Posts affected are AN, L, P, N, H, AT, Y, AH, X – you need to get yourself a new map !

  • NB. mountain bikers remain active in Lantern Wood and have also made several tracks in Knightslow Wood.
  • NB.  The presence of livestock in the park – deer, sheep and cattle – means users should be aware of ticks, and read the notices posted in the park about them.

  • From Stockport follow A6 S through Hazel Grove to High Lane. 1 mile beyond here road begins long L bend. Main park entrance is on R at beginning of bend.  National Trust charges are collected at the park entrance hut.  The car park is then 1 mile along the drive.
