Course Status
Last checked January 2026. Everything OK.
September 2024: Major changes have been implemented as follows: post 32 has moved out of brambles a few metres round the corner; post 94 has been moved 50m or so to a path junction much higher up the hill avoiding the need for a seriously steep and often muddy approach; post 95 has been moved out of brambles and balsam down its stream to where it crosses the path; post 99 has been moved away from its inaccessible fence corner to the path junction 30m or so to the West; post Q has been removed from the map and courses. You need the latest map !!! Also note that the old Hall is having some repair work and is surrounded by fencing and scaffolding.
May 2024 – post 33 has been removed from the map and courses, and post N has been moved about 15 SE, out of undergrowth.
December 2020 – the new bridge at P is now open, and P is now a plaque on the path junction at the South end of it.
February 2017 – control 36 has been re-positioned on the SE side of the pond; control 93 has been re-positioned on a boulder about 30 metres North of the marsh it was in.

Start/Finish
The Start/Finish is a thicket end, centrally placed at the edge of the top level open areas. It is a 600m walk from the main car park, and a similar distance from the alternative.

Directions
From M60 (J27) follow A626 (Marple). At top of steep hill A626 turns L at traffic lights. 100m after lights turn L on to Turncroft Lane. Follow to sharp R bend. Main Car Park is here (CP on map). Alternative car park is 500m further on by the Community Centre just before the traffic lights.
